Product description

The thickness of building steel mesh chosen depends on a number of factors. In this way not only the load plays a role, but also the choice for the finishing and the span determine the final thickness of the building steel mat to be chosen. By using construction steel mesh with the right thickness, a solid reinforcement can be created that meets the highest expectations.

Features

  • The use of building steel mesh: It is crucial to use building steel mesh (also known as concrete mats or wire mats) when a concrete floor is laid. The construction steel mats provide a solid reinforcement, on which the concrete floor can be poured. The construction steel mats also absorb tensile forces in the floor, which reduces the risk of cracking.
  • Building steel mat: Which thickness for which floor? To create a standard work floor, use can be made of concrete mats with a thickness varying from around 6 or around 8. This thickness is able to absorb the expected tensile forces and forms a solid basis for the work floor.
  • Construction steel mats around 5 are used for thicker screeds or smelting floors (from 6 cm) for the optimal distribution of the pressure layer (this pressure layer ensures an improved load distribution of the floor to be laid).
  • For deck or lubrication floors with a thickness of between 3 and 5 centimeters, cement screed gauze with a 5 centimeter mesh is used to optimally distribute the expected pressure.
  • In some cases, however, the above thicknesses do not meet, because the expected load is many times higher. Think for example of heavy loads by cars and trucks (garages). In these cases, the load and the expected tensile force and pressure layer must be calculated by a specialist. Depending on the outcome, the correct thickness of the structural steel mat can be determined.
